What a Full-Body Preventative MRI Actually Found (I Wasn’t Expecting This)
Most of us don’t get a clear picture of what’s happening inside our bodies until something goes wrong. A full-body preventative MRI flips that on its head, scanning for issues long before symptoms show up. I went in expecting a clean bill of health and a good story for content. What I got was a little more complicated than that.
In the video below, I walk through why I decided to get scanned in the first place, what the process actually involves, and the specific finding that caught me off guard, something I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. I also talk about what happens next: the follow-up steps, how I’m thinking about it, and whether I’d recommend this kind of scan to you.
This isn’t medical advice, it’s my personal experience, but if you’ve been curious about preventative screening and whether it’s worth the cost and time, this video should help you decide.
What surprised me most wasn’t the finding itself, it was how differently I approached the follow-up once I actually had the imaging in hand. Instead of guessing about symptoms or waiting for something to feel wrong, I had a concrete starting point to bring to my doctor. That shift, from reacting to something already causing problems to catching it while it’s still just data on a scan, is the whole argument for preventative screening in the first place.
I also want to be upfront that a scan like this isn’t cheap and isn’t accessible to everyone, and it can turn up incidental findings that lead to more questions than answers. I talk through all of that in the video, including how I’m weighing the cost against the peace of mind (or lack thereof) it actually bought me, so you can decide for yourself whether it’s worth it for your own situation.
I did the scan through OneMRI. They did not sponsor this video, but I did work with them on some content for Instagram. Learn more here: https://hckait.com/onemri
