Meet Your Assistant Coach: Alisha Khan

Hello there, valued member of the Health Coach Kait community!

Although you may have already noticed me in our Facebook groups, I wanted to take a moment to formally introduce myself to you today. My name is Alisha Khan and I work alongside Kait as your Assistant Coach. I am truly honored to work with someone as compassionate, qualified, and kind as Kait and am thrilled to become a member of this fantastic group of likeminded individuals. As I finish up my certification from the Primal Health Coach Institute, I look forward to helping you on your health journey, as I continue to work on mine.

ABOUT MY HEALTH CHALLENGES:

Like many people around the world, I struggled with being overweight throughout my adolescence and well into my adult life. No matter what I tried, whether it was counting calories, doing Master Cleanses (yuck), working out with a personal trainer, or even resorting to weight loss pills, I would lose a bit of weight just to gain it all back, and then some.

Hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, Celiac disease, and fibromyalgia added even more challenges to my weight loss journey. I was constantly fatigued, inflamed, and in pain with every passing day, but no amount of caffeine, massage therapy, or pain killers made a difference. In addition to my weight loss problems, I also struggled with mental health issues such as anxiety attacks and severe depression due to emotional and physical trauma I had experienced in my early twenties. I tried antidepressants, therapy, talking to friends and family, but again, to no avail.

The conditions mentioned above hindered my ability to perform everyday tasks such as showing up to exams or being at work on time, but most importantly, they debilitated me from becoming the best mother to my son. For this reason, even though I had given up actively searching for a “cure” to my poor health, I still prayed to God everyday to guide me, help me heal, and help me become mentally and physically strong enough to raise my son well.

I remember playing with my son one evening in early January 2020 and becoming so out of breath that I thought I was going to have a heart attack. At that point, I realized that if I wanted to be around to see my boy grow up, I needed to stop throwing myself a pity party and start prioritizing my health again.

HOW I BEGAN MY JOURNEY TO BETTER HEALTH:

I started revisiting profiles of people I admired on Instagram who had successfully regained their health and optimistically hit up Google to search up ways I could do that while enjoying the foods I loved, such as fatty steaks. That is when I came across Kelly Hogan’s blog “My Zero Carb Life”.

To say that my life was forever changed would be an understatement. Here was this brilliant, amazing mother of three telling me that I could lose weight AND improve almost all aspects of my health JUST by prioritizing fatty meat! This way of eating honestly felt too good to be true but the more I learned about animal-based nutrition from reputable sources in the low carb community, specifically Health Coach Kait, the more I realized that this would be the key to my recovery.

I kicked off my health and weight loss journey by completing the Carnivore75Hard challenge. By eating only fatty, low carb animal products such as ribeye steaks and whole eggs, I was able to lose 25 pounds and 60 inches in a mere 75 days. More importantly, I reduced inflammation, widespread pain, and drastically improved my mental health. This remarkable transformation inspired me to spread the word about ancestral eating and help women like myself heal and transform their lives. Thus began my journey to becoming Coach Alisha Khan!

MY MISSION:

Being inspired by Health Coach Kait and her message, I decided to follow suit and enroll in the Primal Health Coach Institute myself so that I could obtain the knowledge and expertise required to assist my clients in achieving their health goals. By prioritizing animal-based nutrition, aligning intermittent fasting with specific female hormone patterns, and encouraging other primal practices, I hope to help more women around the world lose weight, improve their mental health, and become the healthiest versions of themselves.
